The rumor on the street is that the Angels chose Vernon Wells over Carlos Beltran.
Beltran has only one year and $18.5m left on his deal.
Wells is owed $86m over the next four years as part of a contract that recently was called one of "the most untradable" in all of baseball here, here, here, and here among other places.
Not encouraging news for Mets, but at this point, we are used to it.
Looking ahead to 2012 already...
