When was the last time a team traded for a player to replace an injured player that had originally been traded for that player? That was confusing.
Follow along here.
On July 12, 2006, the Grizzlies traded Shane Battier to Houston for the 8th overall pick in that year's draft (the pick used to select Rudy Gay).
Fast forward four and a half years.
When Rudy Gay went down with an injury, who did the Grizzlies trade for to replace him?
Shane Battier.
The two guys were traded for each other. Now, one was acquired to replace the other.
Nice symmetry.
